Filipino Cuisine: Filipino’s Pride!

Filipino Cuisine is one of the several things that we, Filipinos can be proud of. Aside from the fact that Filipino food is deliciously different compared to other cuisines, Filipino food is one of the best cuisines in the world’s culinary delights. So feed that appetite and allow yourself to discover the tastes of the Filipino’s pride featuring the finest dishes of our country’s best foods.
Adobo is no doubt the national dish of the Philippines. The savory tastes of either chicken or pork adobo would definitely make you crave for more. This kind of dish became famous to the Americans because it suits their inquisitive tastes. Another famous dish from our country is Sinigang. A dish made typically sour that fits that tastes of every Filipinos. It is best cooked with pork, shrimp or fish, with some ingredients like gabi, labanus, sitaw or kangkong, etc., and then it would already be a perfect dish good for a meal. Pinakbet (Ilocano’s best) is an outstanding vegetarian main dish in the Philippines. It is one of the healthiest food; a mixture of different kinds of vegetables that is good for the body. Menudo and Lumpiang Shanghai are the all time favorites of the Filipinos. Those dishes are always present whenever there is an occasion such as fiestas and birthday parties. Aside from those dishes that ere mentioned, there are still lots of kinds of dishes, Filipino cuisine has to offer. We still have Afritada, Caldereta, Tinola, Dinuguan, Paksiw na isda, and a lot more. But wait! I haven’t mentioned yet my favorite! Who would not love to see a whole roast pig, Lechon, which is always the center of attention in any Filipino celebration? Unless you’re a high-blooded person or someone with heart disease! Huh! That would definitely end your life! (Oh God! My appetite starts to claim!).
Filipino cuisine has been constantly evolving to unite regional or even international influences on food. It is an interesting mix of foods from several different cultures all over the world including Spanish, Malay, Indonesian, Chinese, Japanese, Arab, Mexican and American cuisines.
Over the centuries, foreign traders and invaders introduced new ingredients, new cooking styles and new food combinations to indigenous Filipino food staples and methods of food preparation. But despite these outside influences on Filipino culture and diet, modern Filipino cuisine has developed its own distinct characteristics, which made it stand out among other cuisines.
